Where will road, bridge work begin March 31 in Somerset County?

PennDOT District 9 announced Friday that roadwork will resume in several areas of Somerset County next week, including plans for two 30-day detours to begin in early April.
On Monday, long-term lane closures will go into effect in the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 219 (Flight 93 Memorial Highway) between Boswell and Somerset to allow New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. to do concrete patching, pipe cleaning and lining and other work.

This work is part of the second year of a three-year, $25 million overall construction project to renovate several bridges and upgrade drainage, signage and guardrails along a 5-mile length of Route 219 in Jenner, Quemahoning and Lincoln townships.
Drivers can soon expect to see road closed signs, like this one from 2023, around Somerset County as road and bridge construction projects resume in early April.
Two planned detours in April
In addition, District 9 announced plans for two 30-day detours that will begin the week of April 7, as contractors renovate two bridges that cross over Route 219 in those areas.
First, the bridge along Route 4102, or Sechler Road, will be closed for renovations and during that time, a detour will take vehicles around the area by following Route 281 to Route 4026 (Lake Road) to Route 601 (North Center Avenue) to Gilmour Road (T-861).
The second detour is for vehicles using the Route 4104, or Critchfield Road bridge, which will also close the week of April 7 for renovations. This detour will take vehicles along Route 601 (Penn Avenue) to Route 4004 (Bicycle Road) to Morris Road (T-548).
And as road construction projects resume across Somerset County, PennDOT reminds drivers to drive slowly through work zones and to pay attention to signage and flaggers’ directions in construction areas.
